How We Stay Stocked

Inventory Management That Ensures Availability

Running out of pallets is not an option for your business, and it is not acceptable to us either. Here is how we ensure we always have the pallets you need, when you need them.

01

Continuous Sourcing Network

We maintain active buying relationships with over 300 businesses across the Pacific Northwest who sell us their surplus pallets on a recurring basis. This continuous inflow ensures our inventory is constantly replenished with diverse sizes, materials, and grades. When one source slows down seasonally, others ramp up, creating a balanced supply pipeline year-round.

02

Real-Time Inventory Tracking

Every pallet that enters our facility is logged into our inventory management system by type, size, grade, and material. Our team monitors stock levels in real time and can tell you immediately what we have available and in what quantities. This system also triggers automatic reorder alerts when specific high-demand items drop below target thresholds.

03

50,000+ Pallet Buffer Stock

We maintain a buffer inventory of over 50,000 pallets at our Portland facility at all times. This buffer ensures that even during peak demand periods, such as Q4 retail rush or spring agricultural season, we can fulfill large orders without delay. Most standard sizes and grades are available for same-day fulfillment from this buffer stock.

04

Repair Pipeline Supplements Supply

Our in-house repair operation processes over 120,000 pallets per year, continuously feeding refurbished pallets back into our sales inventory. This repair pipeline supplements our buying program and ensures we always have a steady supply of Grade B and Grade C pallets at prices significantly below new pallet costs.

Quality Guarantee

Our Six-Point Inspection Process

Every pallet we sell passes through a rigorous six-point inspection before it leaves our facility. This process is how we back up our quality guarantee. If any pallet does not meet its stated grade, we replace it at no charge, no questions asked.

01

Structural Integrity Check

Every pallet is visually inspected and physically tested for structural soundness. Our technicians check all stringers, blocks, and lead boards for cracks, splits, or breaks that could compromise load-bearing capacity. Any pallet that fails this check is routed to repair or recycling.

02

Board Condition Assessment

Each deck board is examined for excessive wear, warping, rot, mold, or contamination. We check board thickness to ensure it meets the minimum specification for the assigned grade. Boards with protruding nails are refastened, and boards with minor damage are assessed for acceptability within the grade standards.

03

Dimensional Verification

We verify that every pallet meets the correct dimensional specifications for its size classification. This includes overall length, width, and height, as well as fork entry opening dimensions and board spacing. Dimensional accuracy is critical for racking compatibility and automated handling systems.

04

Contamination Screening

Pallets are screened for chemical contamination, pest damage, excessive mold, strong odors, and food residue. Pallets destined for food, pharmaceutical, or clean-room applications receive extra scrutiny. Any pallet that shows signs of chemical treatment with non-approved substances is rejected from the sales inventory.

05

Grade Assignment & Documentation

After passing all checks, each pallet is assigned a grade (A, B, or C) based on its overall condition. The grade is marked on the pallet and logged in our inventory system. Grading is done by experienced technicians using consistent criteria so you always know exactly what you are receiving.

06

Final Staging

Graded pallets are sorted by size, grade, and material type and staged in designated areas of our yard for efficient order fulfillment. This organized staging system allows us to pull and load orders quickly, often within hours of receiving your order confirmation.

Case Study

How Pacific Northwest Foods Saves $127,000 Per Year

The Company

Pacific Northwest Foods is a regional food distributor operating three distribution centers across Oregon and Washington. They ship approximately 6,000 palletized loads per month to grocery retailers, restaurants, and institutional customers throughout the Pacific Northwest. Their pallet consumption was approximately 4,800 new 48x40 GMA pallets per month, purchased from a national pallet manufacturer at premium new-pallet pricing.

The Challenge

At an average cost of $14.50 per new pallet, their monthly pallet spend exceeded $69,600, or over $835,000 per year. Many of their shipments did not require new pallets, as grocery deliveries are typically unloaded at the dock and the pallet is returned or discarded. They were paying new-pallet prices for an application that only needed a structurally sound, clean pallet.

Our Solution

After a thorough analysis of their shipment types and customer requirements, we designed a blended pallet program. For shipments to customers with strict pallet requirements (pharmaceutical, certain retail), they continued using new pallets. For the remaining 75 percent of shipments, we supplied Grade A and Grade B recycled pallets at approximately 45 percent below new pallet pricing. We set up weekly recurring deliveries to all three distribution centers, each on a different day of the week to align with their shipping schedules.

The Results

$127K

Annual savings on pallet procurement

Cost reduction on 75% of orders

Zero

Distribution centers serviced weekly

“We were skeptical at first about switching from new pallets to recycled ones. But after the first delivery, we realized these Grade A pallets were indistinguishable from new in terms of appearance and performance. Twelve months in, we have had zero customer complaints and saved over $127,000. The weekly deliveries run like clockwork, and our account manager is more responsive than any vendor we have ever worked with.”

Common Questions

Pallet Selling FAQ

What sizes do you keep in stock?

We maintain a large inventory of the most common sizes including 48x40, 42x42, 48x48, and 36x36. Less common sizes are available with a short lead time. Custom sizes can be built to order.

How do you grade your pallets?

Every pallet goes through a multi-point inspection process. Grade A pallets are like new with no visible damage. Grade B shows normal use wear but is fully structural. Grade C is economy condition, suitable for single-use or less demanding applications.

Can I mix sizes and grades in one order?

Absolutely. We regularly fulfill mixed orders. Volume discounts are calculated based on total order quantity, regardless of how many different types you need.

Do you offer a quality guarantee?

Yes. If any pallet does not meet the grade specifications we agreed upon, we will replace it at no cost. We stand behind the quality of every pallet we sell.

What payment terms are available?

We accept credit cards, checks, and ACH transfers. For established accounts with volume orders, we offer Net 15 and Net 30 terms. Contact us to set up a credit account.

Can you deliver outside of Oregon?

Yes. While our primary service area is the Pacific Northwest (Oregon, Washington, Northern California), we regularly deliver throughout the western US. Delivery pricing varies by distance and volume.
